RTP and House Edge explained
RTP, or Return to Player, is the long-term statistical return rate of a game — meaning what percentage of the total amount wagered in a game is returned to players on average. For example, a 96% RTP means an average of ৳96 is returned for every ৳100 wagered. This is an average across millions of rounds — results in a single session can be much higher or lower than this.
House edge is the flip side of RTP. If a game's RTP is 96%, the house edge is 4%. This is the source of the casino's long-term operating costs and profit. A lower house edge is more favorable for the player — which is why skill-based games like blackjack typically have a lower house edge.
The difference in RTP across game types is quite significant. Slot games generally have an RTP in the range of 92–98%. Blackjack can approach 99% RTP when the correct strategy is followed. In roulette, the European variant typically has an RTP of 94–97%, while the American variant has a somewhat lower RTP due to the double zero. Crash games and live table games have RTPs that vary by game.
Why is it important to know the RTP before you play? Because it helps you set the right expectations. Choosing a high RTP game does not guarantee a win — but it does increase the likelihood of your balance lasting longer over time. Always stay within your budget and use RTP as a helpful guide to your strategy.
